Student Activities at STRS

  • Student Council

America's future leaders are sitting in St. Teresa classrooms...and one of the best ways to foster minds and hearts for leadership, service and academic excellence is through a Student Council. It teaches our students that they truly can make a difference at home, at school, in the community, and in the world.

Students in grades 7 and 8 run for elected student council positions as officers and class representatives. Our student council officers organize service projects and school activities that encourage volunteerism, community awareness and school spirit.

    Class Buddies

As part of a St. Teresa School tradition, students in Grades 3 to 8 are partnered with younger students in Pre-K through Grade 2. The older students mentor their younger buddies during special Liturgies and Security Drills and team up regularly for fun learning activities and Buddy Lunches throughout the school year.

    Arts at STRS

All students receive weekly instruction in Art and Music. Students also have the opportunity to receive private music lessons after school. All students participate in our Christmas production and annual Art Show.

    National Junior Honor Society

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a student. The St Teresa Regional School chapter, along with more than 6,000 chapters in schools across the nation, strive to give practical meaning to the Society's standards of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.

    STRS Press

The STRS Press is a student-designed newsletter published quarterly. The paper introduces new staff members and informs families of school activities.

    After School Clubs

As part of our mission, we believe that forming minds and hearts does not cease at dismissal time.  The quality education a child receives at St. Teresa School includes a wide range of experiences that complement the school curriculum and provide our students with meaningful experiences that interest them. After School Clubs include a variety of interest. Topics may include:

    • Recreational Sports
    • Pokemon
    • Art
    • Acapella
    • Robotics/Lego
    • Choir

    IHM Math Contest

Sponsored by the Sisters of IHM, this contest is a real challenge to those students in 7th and 8th grade who participate. Our Accelerated Math teacher prepares the students weeks in advance to enter the first round of competition.  Finalists participate in a second round. Those who succeed in the second round are awarded certificates of achievement from the Congregation of the Sisters of IHM.
